– A Nigerian lady has taken an unusual decision to return Nigeria and take up farming after living for so many years in the UK
– The woman identified as Mrs Ashley said her passion for farming informed her decision to return home
– She believes Nigeria will be a better country if Nigeria’s best brains all over the world return to contribute their quota to the nation’s development
While many Nigerians will jump at any given opportunity to travel abroad, a young lady has taken the opposite decision.
Mrs Ashley left the United Kingdom to take up full-time farming as an occupation. She believes in the popular Nigerian saying that there is no place like home. According to her, life at home is very different from life abroad.
In an interview with Vlogger Tayo Aina seen by Legit.ng, the young lady admitted that life in Nigeria since her return hasn’t been easy as she has had to struggle with so many things but at the end of the day, her resolve keeps her going.
Ashley also said that the need to have a sense of belonging informed her decision to make a trip back home.
The Nigeria entrepreneur is of the opinion that life abroad is a lonely one compared to Nigeria where everyone relates and lives like a family.
The female farmer who does her farming business in Jos engages majorly in strawberry cultivation business. Other produce she farms on are cabbage, lettuce, rose among others.
Ashley maintains that transportation is the major challenge she faces as a farmer. This is because her major farm produce – strawberry – requires a cool environment and getting it to a far location like Lagos by road is not suitable as there is no provision for the cooling of the strawberries.
It is much easier for her to deliver her produce to neighbouring states. The Nigerian optimistic said:
“It is creating awareness. People need to know that we are blessed as a country. Nigeria is blessed in so many ways…”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported about a pretty female farmer who hit it big in farming.
The lady said that going into agriculture was the best decision she made in 2020. The female farmer asked tweeps to connect her to customers.
Also known as Mama_Organics, the lady posted four pictures that showed the expanse of her farm, telling people she supplies farm produce in bulk.
