BREAKING: FG gives this crucial update amid contemplation to shut schools again

The federal government, through the ministry of education, on Monday, January 18, warned schools across the country not to ask for COVID-19 test results as a requirement to accept students.

Stating that schools are only permitted to conduct temperature checks on returning students, the ministry warned schools to desist from making the test a condition.

The instruction is contained in a brief statement signed by the ministry’s director of press and public relations, Ben Goong, The Nation reports.

The statement reads:

“The federal ministry of education says no Covid-19 Test is required for returning students to be admitted into their schools.

Enugu state schools to resume January 18th – Government

“Only temperature checks should be carried out on students and any other person crossing any school gate.

“School authorities should therefore refrain from asking students or parents to undergo Covid-19 test before they are accepted in their schools.”
