The Capitol Hill invasion has cost President Donald Trump of the United States quite a lot already.
Added to his loss of allies in the political cycle, the US leader is now to forfeit some of his college degrees awarded to him years back, Forbes News reports.
One of such academic institutions is Lehigh University, in Pennsylvania, whose board of trustees on Friday, January 8, voted to revoke the honorary degree awarded to Trump back in 1988.
On the same day, Wagner University, another institution in New York, conducted an in-house poll on whether to strip Trump of the honorary degree it awarded to him in 2004.
Even more, the University of Pennsylvania alumni are said to be mounting pressure on the school to take back Trump’s bachelor’s degree bagged in 1968.
Meanwhile, the US’ president-elect, Joe Biden, had reacted to the impeachment of Trump.
Trump was on Wednesday, January 13, impeached for the second time after he incited his followers to attack the Capitol in an effort to stop the certification of Biden’s presidential election win.
Reacting on Thursday, January 14, Biden noted that after Trump’s impeachment by the House of Representatives, the process of removing him from office would continue at the Senate.
The incoming US president expressed hope that the Senate will complete the process of convicting and removing Trump while it also works on other “urgent business of this nation”.
One of the Americans that reacted to the sad news on Twitter was Kilroy Jones, @kilroyjones1.
“Sir, even though you are not the president yet; due to the dereliction and treason of our current president, you are by default the current President of the United States. Lead us and we will follow, Sir. Signed the American people.”
