President Donald Trump has finally conceded defeat to Joe Biden, with the US president promising on an orderly transition to power on January 20.

The embattled and enraged president made this known in a statement he released on Thursday, January 7, after Biden, 78, was officially certified as the next president of the United States.

Trump, however, maintained that he “totally disagree with the outcome of the election”, adding that he will pursue justice even after leaving office, according to Dan Scavino, White House deputy chief of staff for communications and director of social media, said in a tweet.

“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th.”

Trump lost the November 3 presidential election to former vice president and senator Biden in a development that has been generating a violent reaction from the incumbent’s president camp.

In an unprecedented turn of events, the Capitol which is the US congress seat was on Wednesday, January 6, attacked by supporters of President Trump in what led to the death of four people as multiple injuries recorded on both law enforcement officers and protesters.

The Senate were about to certify Joe Biden of the Democratic Party’s win in the November 3 presidential polls when the seat of the congress was breached by the pro-Trump supporters, leading to the evacuation of the lawmakers.

Meanwhile, Marc Short, the chief of staff to the outgoing vice president, Mike Pence, has been banned from entering the White House following the VP’s refusal to overturn Joe Biden’s win.

Trump has been delusional with his claims of victory as the US president is continuing wielding all the state instruments to stop Biden’s inauguration.

Pence, in a letter, addressed to the congress, had said he has no authority to block Biden’s victory, a development that has left Trump fuming and ranting on his social media page.
